2016 Burgundy En Primeur tasting 09.01.2018

Yesterday I had an opportunity to taste 2016 Burgundy en primeur wines. It was organised by Flint wines.
2016 was very difficult year for Burgundy growers. Region got hit with very late spring frost (on April 29th). There was rain which left vineyards wet, then temperatures fell very low below freezing and on top of that morning sunshines attached the fozen moisture withing the buds. Those three factors came together causing big damaged and loss of crop. The worst affected villages were Chassagne-Montrachet and Chambolle-Musigny. Chassagne lost nearly 80% of crops. Nuits-St.Georges lost between 50-70%. Nontheless what was left of the harvest came out brilliantly.
